BANGALORE: FirstApex, a software product and services company, will be adding about 100 professionals this year to take its headcount to 300. It will also be releasing its first J2EE, component-based version of its flagship products, e-Life and X-Gen. The company primarily focuses the global insurance sector, boasting over 100 installations across 15 countries.

As part of its addition to its workforce this year, the company has added on senior management people. Last month it was Associate Vice President, Vivek Karimbil from HP joining FirstApex, to be followed by Ramesh Venkatraman as Vice President - Quality, Mandeep Vakani as Vice President - Service, Rathi Dasgupta as Vice President -Customer Support Group (CSG) and Srinivas K as Associate Vice President - Release Management.

The 23-year company offers product and services in the ratio of 70:30 favoring products. Their suites of products include e-Life, X-Gen and X-Vision. While e-Life is a suite of components for Life insurers, X-GEN is a suite of components for property and casualty insurers. Finally X-VISION is a set of tools and methodologies for business intelligence.

"We have come a long way from having developed the product in Cobol and enhancing it to Pro IV and now PowerBuilder. The demands of the industry keeps scaling by the year with the software expected to handle large volume of data with several users having complex transactions in a distributed environment calculating complicated variables. Component-based products would be flexible and robust enough to cater to these high demands. Hence we would shortly be releasing our suite of products in J2EE platform," informs Karimbil.

The company continues to integrate CRM, HR, Campaign Management Solutions into its product suite, rather than roll out individual products. With the insurance sector witnessing lots of action on the domestic front, welcoming global giants into the market, FirstApex is all set to achieve what i-flex has achieved in the global banking solution scene. Unfortunately there is no sales league table for the insurance sector solutions, to rank e-Life and X-Gen and find out their ranking globally.
