Zoom App has added extra security features. What are they?

Zoom announces new security features to combat meeting disruptions

Zoom has been in news for its security since its rise. Many cyber companies have pointed out its flaws and complained about the features. Zoom App even has a lawsuit against it from an investor. From data routing through China to Zoombombing, Zoom has faced a lot of security lags in recent times.

But, in a recent development, Zoom App added a new data routing feature. With it, Zoom has also released certain new features to make the app a safe place.

First, in the Zoom app, you can choose the country you want to set as your routing option. You can view it in the Zoom Dashboard from where the client connects to, as well as any data centres connected to an HTTP Tunnel (HT) server if used. These HT servers offer a connection point to clients who unable to connect to the Zoom platform through other network channels.

To make the app a safe place, Zoom is constantly working to improve. These are the new developments that Zoom has taken up w.e.f April 18.

1. Cloud recording password guidelines: Admins can now define meeting and webinar cloud recording password guidelines. These can have an admin specified minimum length. It may include letters, numbers, special characters, or just can be numeric passwords.

2. Linking accounts: Admins can now securely share contacts across multiple accounts. They can use a new self-serve web feature to link their accounts to one organization. This feature can be found in Account Management – IM Management – IM Settings.

3. Voicemail PIN: Zoom Phone administrators can require a longer PIN to access voicemail.

4. Call recording access: Zoom Phone account owners and admins can now enable or disable users’ ability to access, download, or delete their automatic call recordings.

These features may be small, but they are a step in the right direction to protect user data.
