Last weekend, Zoom rolled out a new feature in the Zoom App.
The Zoom Technologies gained an overnight momentum in the race of video conferencing app. This, in turn, brought a wave of security issues with it. From data routing from China to Zoombombing, the company has faced severe security allegations. It has constantly strived to improve upon its security. This time, though, it has released a new feature- the Data routing option. It even tweeted the update.
Last week we wrote about new data routing options for your Zoom meetings, webinar, and chat data. The feature was released this weekend, and we’d like to explain a little more about how it works...

But what is it?
Data Routing in Zoom
The company says that this new feature is available to paid accounts. They can customize the real-time traffic for meetings and webinars. This option will be available to all Zoom Admins and owners of the paid account.
Users can opt-in for a specific data region and or opt-out of China. This option will be available in the Account Settings of the app. "If you don't opt-in to China by April 25, your account will not be able to connect to mainland China for data transit," said the blog.
These data centres will help in a good experience, but opting-out of a region will result in limited CRC, Dial-in, Call-me option and Invite by phone option. The company said, "If you are not from the same data centre, you can still join your meeting without the meeting data going through that data centre. But they may experience some latency or performance issues."
It added, "This data centre option feature is designed to give you more control over your data and interaction with our global network and does not affect any data-at-rest locations. Long-term file storage is always in your home data centre region."
In simple words, you will now have more control over your data transfer. This feature adds a touch of safety in the otherwise unsafe-considered Zoom App.
