In a bid to further boost its hyperlocal household services, online classifieds firm Quikr has acquired on-demand services platform Zimmber for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will help the company accelerate its growth in household services and continue towards its goal of organising this fragmented category, Quikr said in a statement here.

“The acquisition allows us to further scale up our deep-stack service capabilities and provide a superior service experience to Quikr users for their high-frequency daily needs, such as plumbing, cleaning, etc. This category perfectly complements our existing marketplace solutions for one-off service needs, such as interior design, packers and movers, etc.” said PD Sundar, head of QuikrServices.

Zimmber is Quikr's fourth acquisition for its services category which has seen the company buy Salosa, Zapluk and StayGlad in the beauty services space last year.

Mint, which had first reported the development said that the deal was struck following Zimmber’s failed attempts to raise more funds. Zimmber, founded by Gaurav Shrivastava, Anubhab Goel and Kumar in April 2014, provides on-demand home services like plumbing, carpentry, pest control, deep cleaning, sofa and carpet cleaning, among others.

As part of the deal Kumar and Siddhartha Srivastava, the chief products officer at Zimmber, will join Quikr’s team, while co-founder and CEO Anubhab Goel will “move on to pursue other interests”, the company said in a statement.
