Power Corp in UP switches on mobile wallets

Intends to cater to low internet and smartphone penetration areas with bill payment options on digital modes

MUMBAI, INDIA: As per an announcement shared, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav has inaugurated the new age digital payment offerings for Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) consumers; empowered by TechProcess that supports renowned mobile wallets like Vodafone M-Pesa and PayTm on the UPPCL website.

This is aimed to reach low internet and smartphone penetration areas; users can utilize M-Pesa enabled feature phone to view and pay bills. This facility is also available for smartphones that have the M-Pesa app, tells the update. Apart from the already activated Debit, Credit Cards and Netbanking facilities, customers will now be able to view their bills on PayTm app and pay electricity bills using their PayTm wallet through the website of UPPCL.

UPPCL will soon launch what it calls a centralized, safe and convenient digital payment platform enabling their corporate clientele to pay bulk utility bills online which is also powered by TechProcess Payment Services, India’s leading electronic payments platform.

Sanjay Agarwal (IAS) Chairman, UPPCL, said, “UPPCL is glad to offer new age digital and mobile payments on Vodafone M-Pesa and Paytm to its customers. We will soon launch Group Bill Payments for our corporate clients to further enhance the digital payment penetration and efficient collections.”

Under this soon to be launched initiative using the Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) platform, Kumar Karpe, CEO, TechProcess commented, “In sync with the Government’s Digital India initiative, UPPCL has taken a step towards offering the convenience of digital payments.”
