Instagram launches Go live with a friend feature

Instagram has launched a new fun feature for its users that enables them to go live with their friend. The 'Go Live with a Friend' feature lets the user invite one friend to join the live video splitting the screen in two to enable the viewer to watch two people in a single video feed.

Instagram said in a blog post, "Live video helps you share in an authentic way, but sometimes it can be intimidating when you're on your own. It's easy to add a guest while you're broadcasting." Instagram users can add any friend by just tapping the 'New' icon on the bottom right of the live video and then tapping 'Add' on anyone who is watching an ongoing live stream. Viewers can be swapped out at will, but live streamers can only have a single guest at a time.

You will see two circles stacked together in your stories bar when someone you follow is going live with a friend. The video feed can be watched and commented just like any other live video. You can remove guests and add another person at any time. Friends who have accepted your invitation to go live can also leave the video at any point. Users will also have an option to add the live video to stories afterward or can choose to discard it.

The 'Go Live with a Friend' feature is available as part of Instagram version 20 on iOS and Android.
