Most of the world is now moving toward Artificial Intelligence. This is because it aims to tackle complex-world problems using mathematics. This is practical, efficient and reasonable. Therefore, if you are looking to get into the world of AI, this artificial intelligence course is exhaustive. The objective of this course is to present an overview of the principles and practices of AI to address such complex real-world problems. The course is designed to develop a basic understanding of problem-solving, knowledge representation, reasoning and learning methods of AI.

Who can enrol in the course?

This is an advanced course. Therefore, Final Year B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD students can enrol in the course. But, if you have to know about AI Basics, this course only requires the basic knowledge of probability and linear algebra.

This free artificial intelligence course has a duration of 12 weeks. It will start from 20 Jul 2020 until 09 Oct 2020. The last date to apply is 27 Jul 2020. Further, if you want a certificate, you have to enrol in the exam which will be on 17 Oct 2020.

Who will teach the course?

Prof. Shyamanta M Hazarika, Dept of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Guwahati will teach this course. He has an M.Tech in Robotics from IIT Kanpur and has been awarded PhD from School of Computing, University of Leeds, England. There, at Leeds, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Anthony G Cohn. He has also taught Cognitive Systems & Neuroinformatics at University of Bremen, Germany.

His primary research interest is in Rehabilitation Robotics and Knowledge Representation and Reasoning. This translates into interest in bio-mimetic prosthetics; cognition and cognitive vision. His other achievements include being a Professor in the Dept of Computer Science & Engineering at Tezpur University and member of the European Science Foundation's COST Action IC0903 MOVE: Knowledge Discovery from Moving Objects.

He also established the Biomimetic and Cognitive Robotics Lab at Univ of Tezpur. More recently he has worked with Prof. John Q Gan, University of Essex, England on a Brain Controlled Wheelchair.

What will the course teach?

The course layout is very simple. For Week 1-3, you will be learning AI and Problem Solving by Search. From Week 4 to Week 6, you will learn Knowledge Representation and Reasoning. Week 7 further marks the learning of Reasoning under Uncertainty. In Weeks 8 and 9, you will learn Planning and Decision Making. From Week 10 onwards, the primary focus will be Machine Learning.

How to obtain a certificate?

The course is free to enrol and learn. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the optional proctored exam. The fee for this exam is ₹ 1000. The successful completion of the exam does not guarantee a certificate. To get a certificate, you need to get 25% from the assignments and 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100.

Final score = Average assignment score (>10/25) + Exam score (>30/75). If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score > 40/100.
