[Exclusive] Here’s the Cowin helpline number to edit errors in Covid vaccination certificate

For the last three weeks, the team at CiOL has been relentless in following up to understand how users can edit errors in Covid Vaccination Certificate. While the last two times that we reported, the Co-WIN helpline made it clear that users cannot edit their own details. In an interaction with The Hindu, Dr RS Sharma, CEO, NHA stated that the current system stores details on IVER. IVER refers to an Immutable Vaccination Event Record. Thus, letting users edit the details on Covid Vaccine Certificates by themselves, would lead to misuse of the system. Dr Sharma has not commented on the matter of the software that would help users correct their mistakes. On the other hand, the technical team at Co-WIN has helped us out.

Minor errors here include errors in name, age, year of birth, gender, etc. In the first problem case, users have taken the first shot of the vaccination and found errors in the covid vaccine certificate. In the second problem case, users have received both shots. Here, the final certificate came out wrong. According to the technical helpline, here's how you can edit the details in both problem cases:

How to edit errors in covid vaccination certificate if you have taken only the first dose?

In case you have only taken one dose, and the details on the certificate are wrong, you can rectify the mistake when you go to take the second dose. The team member who picked my call advised, “When you go to the vaccination centre the next time, ask the vaccinator to edit errors in the covid vaccination certificate. He/She has the software to edit it. If you still face the problem, you need to call this helpline number.”
