Apple Event: All the New Devices that the Tech Giant unveiled at "Time Flies" 2020

At the special ‘Time Flies’ event on Tuesday, Apple announced Watch SE, Watch Series 6, iPad Air, 8th generation iPad, Apple Fitness+ and the AppleOne subscription services. Unfortunately, we did not see the launch of iPhone 12. This was the second major event this year after WWDC 2020 which was held in June.

The tech giant said that the pandemic affected the launch of iPhone 12 series this year. Further, we the series to go official in the first half of October and release by month-end. Further, for a limited time, customers who purchase a new iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, Mac, or iPod touch can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free.

Apple Event Major announcements

1. iPad Air

The company in the event introduced an all-new iPad Air. It is powerful, versatile, and colourful (available in five colours). The iPad Air features an all-screen design with a larger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, camera and audio upgrades, a new integrated Touch ID sensor in the top button, and the powerful A14 Bionic for a massive boost in performance, making this by far the most powerful and capable iPad Air. It has a 10.9-inch display, new 12MP rear camera, next-generation Touch ID sensor, and a C-Port. It has the iOS 14, which lets you pencil-write on the device.

The new iPad Air will be available starting next month on apple.com and in the Apple Store app. It will be available in 30 countries and regions, including the US. Wi-Fi models of iPad Air will be available with a starting price of $599 and Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at $729. The new iPad Air, in 64GB and 256GB configurations, will be available in five finishes including silver, space grey, rose gold, green, and sky blue.

Apple Pencil will be available for purchase separately for $129.

2. iPad 8th Gen

Apple has announced the 8th generation of its basic iPad - an update of its entry-level 10.2-inch tablet that upgrades the processor to a faster A12 chipset. iPad 8th generation promises to be up to 3 times faster than the top-selling Android tablet. The new 8th generation iPad costs $329; for education customers, it will be available at $299. The iPad's Wi-Fi + Cellular Model costs $459 and comes in silver, space grey, and gold finishes in 32GB and 128GB configurations.

3. Apple Watch SE, Watch Series

AppleWatch SE comes with all the features to stay connected, fit and healthy. It uses the AppleWatch Series 5 chipset and comes with all the new features including Family setup. Watch Series SE runs on WatchOS software similar to the new Watch Series 6. The new watches will feature a Blood Oxygen sensor and app, new case finishes, and watchOS 7.

The AppleWatch SE has been launched at $279. The new AppleWatch Series 6 is priced at $399 while the Watch Series 3 will continue to be priced at $199. For now, no details on when these new Apple Watches will arrive in India and the prices.

Customers who purchase Watch Series 3 or later, will get three months of Apple Fitness+.

The government of Singapore and Apple also announced their partnership on the health initiative LumiHealth. It is a personalized program to encourage healthy activity and behaviours using the Apple Watch.

4. Apple Fitness+

The Fitness+ is a new service for Apple Watch that will try and inspire you to stay more active and participate in workout sessions. Fitness+ includes many workout modes like Cycling, Treadmill, Rowing, HIIT, Strength, Yoga, Dance, Core, and Mindful Cooldown. It also provides you with new tracks that will motivate you to work out better. You will also be able to save your Music track on Fitness+. The Apple Fitness+ is available at $ 9.99 for a month and $ 79.99 per year.

At launch, the company said that the Apple Fitness+ will be available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, and the US.

Apple Fitness+ is included in the AppleOne Premier plan, which, where available, also gives customers access to Music, TV+, Arcade, News+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for $29.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members.

5. AppleOne Subscription

Starting this fall, customers with the subscriptions can have the Apple One plan. It will enable them to sign up with a tap from any Apple device and get even more for less.

The three plans include:

1. The individual plan includes Music, TV+, Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage for $14.95 per month.

2. The family plan includes all of the above with 200GB of iCloud storage for $19.95 per month. You can share it among up to six family members.

3. The premier plans will have all of the above with News+, Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for $29.95 per month. This one, too, you can share among up to six family members.
