How to update Aadhaar card online?

UIDAI introduced an online service called Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) to help users in updating their address.

But in case you want to update demographic details (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile Number, Email) and Biometrics (Finger Prints, Iris & Photograph) in Aadhaar then you need to visit your nearest UIDAI Permanent Enrolment Center.

How to update Aadhaar card address online?

SSUP enables us to update addresses online but it requires valid documents as well. So before proceeding to update your address in Aadhaar, you should have a digital copy of address proof.

       0 Post office statement or passbook

       0 Government photo ID cards or PSU issued service photo identity card

       0 The signed letter that has a photo from the bank on a letterhead

       0 Water bill (shouldn’t be older than 3 months)

       0 Gas connection bill (shouldn’t be older than 3 months)

       0 Passport of parents (for minors)

       0 Electricity bill (shouldn’t be older than 3 months)

       0 Signed letter with photo and issued by a registered company on a letterhead

       0 Arms license

       0 Insurance document

       0 Signed letter with photo and issued by a recognized educational institution on a letterhead

       0 Property tax receipt (shouldn’t be older than a year)

       0 Address card that has a photo and is issued by the Department of Posts

       0 Disability ID card

       0 Caste and domicile certificate with photo

Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website and hover your mouse over “My Aadhaar” and click on “Update your address online”.

Step 2: The SSUP portal link will open, click on the “Proceed to Update Address” button.

Step 3: A new window will appear asking details to log-in to the portal. You can use your 12-digit Aadhaar number or virtual ID.

Step 4: Once you are logged in, you will see two options to choose from –

       0 Update address via address proof

       0 Update address via secrete code

Step 5: If you have a valid address proof then you can select the first option, else you can choose the second one. The second option lets you request for verification of your given address.

Step 6: Chose the first one, provide new address details and attach proof of address and then submit to the portal.

UIADI will validate your information and then will update your address.

Note: Registered mobile number is essential to access Aadhaar Online Services

How to update Aadhaar card offline?

Online has limitations, you can only update your address using the SSUP portal, and to update other details, you need to visit your nearest Aadhaar enrolment/update center. You can easily locate a permanent Aadhaar enrolment/update center near you online.

Do not forget to carry all the required documents, as for address we have listed documents for other data updates you need different documents.

       0 Mark sheet issued by government university or board

       0 Birth certificate issued by Registrar of Birth or municipal corporation or local government

       0 CGHS/State Government/ECHS/ESIC medical card

       0 Pension card

       0 PDS card

       0 Job card of MNREGA

       0 Canteen card of the army

       0 Family entitlement document that is issued by central/state government

       0 Government-issued marriage certificate

After locating the nearest center and having the required document, original and photocopy both, you can ask for the Aadhaar card update form to fill in the details.

Attach copies of the required documents and submit them to the enrolment operator/officer. He /she would verify your details and documents and then proceed for Aadhaar correction.

Once the process is complete you will receive an acknowledgement receipt with URN.

This URN will help you to track the status of the update request.

In a few working days, the data will be updated and then you can download Aadhaar card online.
