How to download Aadhaar card?

Have you applied for a new Aadhaar Card at your nearest Aadhaar centre and yet not received via post? This happened to numerous people. But no problem, as you can download Aadhaar card online as well if your enrollment is successful.

You can download Aadhaar card online and print it for further usage. There are various processes to do that.

How to Download Aadhaar Card by Aadhaar Number?

Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website and hover the mouse on the “My Aadhaar” menu.

Step 2: You will see numerous options, in the first column you will see “Download Aadhaar” option, click on it. Or you can directly click on eAadhaar.

Step 3: The window will appear with three options –

                0 Aadhaar Number

                0 Enrolment ID (EID)

                0 Virtual ID (VID)

Step 4: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, select the “Masked Aadhaar” checkbox if you want masked Aadhaar card, else leave it to download regular Aadhar.

What is masked Aadhaar card?

There is no major difference in masked Aashaard card to a regular Aadhaar card. the only difference between the two is regular one has 12 digit Aadhaar no, but masked one carries only last four digits and hides the rest 8 digits. Masked Aadhaar card is as valid as the regular one, just it protects your Aadhaar number.

Step 5: Enter the captcha code and click on either “Send OTP”.

Step 6: You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile no and a popup will appear where you need to enter the OTP and then click on the download button.

Your Aadhaar will be downloaded, but it is a password-protected file. You need to enter the eight-digit password which is a combination of four letters of your name and your date of birth. Type in the first four letters of your name in caps and DOB to open it.

How to download Aadhaar card with Enrolment ID (EID)?

Visit the official UIDAI website, go to “My Aadhaar” and then click on the “Download Aadhaar” option. Or you can directly click on eAadhaar.

Step 1: A window will appear with three options –

                0 Enrolment ID (EID)

                0 Virtual ID (VID)

Step 2: Select the Enrolment ID (EID) option.

Step 3: Enter your 14-digit enrolment ID and time and date of enrolment.

Step 4: Select the “Masked Aadhaar” checkbox if you want masked Aadhaar card, else leave it to download regular Aadhar.

Step 5: Enter the captcha code and click on either “Send OTP”.

Step 6: You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile no, enter the OTP and click on “Verify and download button”.

Your Aadhaar will be downloaded, but again it is a password-protected file. Enter the eight-digit password which is a combination of four letters of your name and your date of birth.

How to download Aadhaar card with Virtual ID (VID)?

To download Aadhaar card using VID, you should have a VID first and to generate one you need to follow the below-given instruction –

Step 1: Got to official UIDAI website, then hover the mouse go to the third column and select the fourth option – Virtual ID (VID) Generator. Or you can directly visit the VID Generator.

Step 2: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar no and Captcha code, then click on “Send OTP”

Step 3: You will receive OTP on your registered mobile no, enter the OTP and click on “Generate VID”

Now you need to use the VID to download your Aadhaar card. Visit the official UIDAI website, go to “My Aadhaar” and then click on the “Download Aadhaar” option. Or you can directly click on eAadhaar.

What is Aadhar PDF password?

The downloaded Aadhaar PDF file is password protected which use a unique combination to open that particular file. Thie unique combination will consist of the first four letters of your name and the year of your birth.

For example, if your name is Abhishek and birth year is 1986 then the password would be – ABHI1984. Now you can view your Aadhaar card as well as take a printout of the same.

How to download eAadhaar Card using mAadhaar mobile app?

Unique Identification Authority of India introduced a mobile app that helps you to download eAadhaar card in your pocket. Here how you get your virtual or digital or eAadhaar card –

Step 1: Download the mAadhaar app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 2: Create your 4-digit password to keep your data secure.

Step 4: Enter the OTP and click on “Verify”

Step 5: You will be able to download eAadhaar card on your phone.

How to Download e-Aadhaar through DigiLocker?

Under the Digital India initiative of Govt of India, DigiLocker has been introduced to keep documents like PAN, insurance, Aadhaar, certificates, etc. in digital format. This help in eliminating the use of physical documents.

You can easily download DigiLocker app from App Store and Play Store and then proceed to store your digital documents.

Step 1: Download and open the DigiLocker App
Step 2: Click on signup, if you are not registered, else click on login to enter your login credentials.
Step 3: You will get your “Dashboard”

Step 4: Click on the “Get your Digital Aadhaar” and it will ask to link Aadhaar later or now. Click on “Link Now”.

Step 5: Enter your Aadhaar number and check the below box, then click on “Continue”

Step 6: In the next step, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile no to verify your access.

Step 7: Now you will be able to see “Issued Documents”, right now it’s one, as we have added only Aadhaar card.

Step 8: Now click on “Get Issued Documents” and select “Aadhaar Card” and then eAadhaar will appear.

How to Download eAadhaar through Umang App?

Download Umang app and register or login to your account.

Step 1: Open the Umang App and search for Aadhaar Card
Step 2: Click on “Aadhaar Card” under the search results which is associated with DigiLocker
