Google has announced a few new features to its Google Flights search engine to help travelers with their flight schedules and bookings.

As per the new update, Google will now use its understanding of historical data and its machine learning algorithms to predict delays that haven’t yet been flagged by airlines themselves. It'll do so by going through historical data of flight delays to look for common patterns in late departures.

These include factors like location, weather, and aircraft arriving late. Once the algorithms are 80 percent sure there’ll be a delay, the information will appear in search results when you look up your flight number, route, or airline.

The second update pertains to finding cheap flights, Google will begin offering more specific information about cheaper flight fares. New kinds of basic economy flights may not offer a carry-on or the option to pick your seat, so Google Flights will provide this information for American, Delta, and United.

These changes come only a month after Google Flights added price tracking and deals to Google Flights as well as hotel search features for web searchers.
