ZTE secures 18 TD-LTE contracts globally

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Networking equipment maker ZTE Corporation announced that it has secured 18 TD-LTE contracts in 12 countries, including Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS, or the former Soviet Republics) and Asia Pacific.

The company has eight TD-LTE R&D centres spread across America, Europe and the Chinese cities of Shenzhen, Shanghai, Xi’an and Nanjing and has over 4000 researchers developing wireless systems, core network products and terminal products.

The company claims that it owns seven percent of the world’s total essential LTE patents, and is one among the companies that holds the largest number of independent Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the world.

At the end of 2010, ZTE had also launched Qualcomm chipset based TD-LTE terminals and achieved a download rate of nearly 100Mbps.
