After unveiling cloud kitchen concept in India, restaurant discovery and online food ordering platform Zomato has launched a subscription service, called Zomato Treats for its users in the country priced at Rs 249 per year.

The new subscription service, being true to its name comes with a treat on every order, quite literally. This means you’ll not only be delivered the order that you placed, but it will now be coupled with a free dessert as well.

In a blog post, Zomato's business head for online ordering, Mukund Kulashekaran said the service is currently available to around 20 percent of Zomato users in Gurgaon and they will be rolling it out to all users in a phased manner over the next few weeks.

This is the company’s second subscription-based service and will eventually make its way to the 16 cities where it currently offers the online food ordering facility. Also, your membership will not be restricted to any single city, it is portable and will be applicable in all cities.

Kulashekaran further noted that this service is a precursor to the India launch of its membership program Zomato Gold that debuted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi last month.

Last week, Zomato had said that it had generated revenues of $49 million in FY17, registering an 80 percent growth year-on-year. Annual operating burn had also dropped by 81 percent to $12 million in FY17 as compared to the $64 million in FY16.
