Micromax's fully-owned subsidiary, Yu, that had been in a state of hibernation for quite some time is back with a new smartphone- Yureka Black. The Yureka Black brings back the Yureka moniker which was last seen in 2014's Yu Yureka.

Yu has launched nine smartphones in two years with last one- Yunique Plus coming in August 2016. Interestingly. the latest smartphone comes amidst reports that Micromax is planning to shut down YU.

Yureka Black features a metal body with a striking mirror finish on the back, which is very much similar to the jet black version of the iPhone 7. The top and bottom parts of the rear cover are made of plastic.

The device may be priced at Rs 8,999 but comes with impressive specs. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and the Adreno 510 GPU. The smartphone features a 5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top and supports 4G VoLTE.

With 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card, the phone comes with a 13 MP Sony sensor at the rear with a dual LED flash alongside an 8 MP front camera which also comes with a LED flash.

There are some nifty feature that allows users to draw gestures like O for the camera and M for the music player on the lock screen. Additionally, you can also draw the gestures by pulling down from the top right corner of the screen. The smartphone also comes with a one-handed mode for better user experience.

Though it runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, the company has said that Android Nougat update for the smartphone would arrive soon. The phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting June 6, at a price of Rs 8,999.
