“I have a great admiration for youngsters and I feel that they are much smarter than what we were. I don't believe in the saying that today's generation is inclined towards Internet than reading books. It is just that they have a lot more of choices than what we had in our times,” said Narayana Murthy, while formally launching Pustak.co.in, an bookstore, here today.

An avid reader himself, Murthy said, “My father used to tell us true happiness and content in life come from simple things. Reading good books is one amongst those simple pleasures. Even in my family, my wife has put a great emphasis on reading.”

He added that he would one among the frequent buyers of books from Pustak.co.in.

“Much against popular perception, Indian consumers still don't have enough choice of books, literally,” said Anand Rao, founder and CEO of Pustak.co.in. “Pustak is an attempt by us to bring and make available titles which otherwise were out of the reach of those who need it.”

Narayana Murthy said that a compendium of his speech is going to be launched by mid-April.
