You could be the Olympic Torchbearer from India

MUMBAI, INDIA: Lenovo, a global leader in the PC market, has announced that it has started its India nominations to select a very special Indian torchbearer citizen. This is the chance for Indian sports lovers to carry the Olympic Torch when it comes to Mumbai on April 17th next year, Lenovo said in a statement.

The Torch will arrive in Mumbai for the first time on 17th April 2008. Any Indian citizen above the age of 18 can nominate himself by logging onto Lenovo's microsite - http://www.lenovo.com/in/otr

The unique torchbearer selection process will require any Indian to nominate a sports personality from a list of 10, who best reflects Lenovo's 'New World, New Thinking' philosophy, as well as cite reasons as to how the voter himself is a 'new thinker' and embodies the Olympic spirit.

Nominations will be accepted from August 30, 2007 until 6 pm (IST) of October 1, 2007. The winner will be announced in early 2008 after approvals from the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) and will be hosted in Mumbai as a guest of Lenovo on April 17, 2008.

Lenovo will run online and offline promotions to drive Indian citizens to cast their nominations for the Lenovo Torchbearer .

Lenovo is a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Torch Relay and TOP sponsor of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The company is celebrating the power of inspiration by honoring individuals as torchbearers who embody the Olympic Spirit.
