The majority of energy supply in Jordan was from importation for a long time. Therefore, the Jordan government issued Updated Master Strategy of Energy Sector for the period (2007-2020) in 2007, which aims to increase the country's solar generation capacity to 600MW by 2020. In addition, the renewable energy law in 2012 allows investors to develop grid connected electricity production through the new energies including solar.

"We are delighted to develop strong partnerships with Jordan's leading solar energy companies and have shipped more than 1MW of PV modules to this new market in a short period, although we established our Jordanian operations less than one year," said Liansheng Miao, chairman and CEO of Yingli Green Energy.

"The Middle East has a huge potential for solar adoption because of its abundant sunlight resource, and we are aiming to achieve more development opportunities in this region through our advanced technology, high quality products, strong brand recognition and professional experience in manufacturing and marketing."
