Yahoo! to give live cricket updates on IE 9

BANGALORE, INDIA: Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd, announced on Monday a partnership between Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9) and Yahoo! Cricket to enable cricket fans view latest match scores, team information, photographs and videos. Now on, online users can catch live action using the Cricket Tab on IE 9.

In order to avail this service, one has to do is to drag and pin the Yahoo! Cricket website icon onto the taskbar. As soon as one clicks on the Cricket Tab, he or she can view the latest scores and match reports online, stated a press release.

Announcing the partnership, Senthilkumar Sundaram, director - Internet Explorer, Microsoft India, said, “For a nation where cricket is a religion, this partnership will give cricket fans the best of both worlds — an enhanced and richer web experience with Internet Explorer 9 and the most updated and interesting content from Yahoo! Cricket.” He added, “With this association, we hope to take their online cricket experience to the next level.”

The new service also enables users to go directly to the page within the Yahoo! Cricket site and check out scores, news items and videos, by right clicking on the Cricket Tab and choosing the page they want to visit using the Jump List feature on Windows 7 and IE 9. Web users can download IE 9 from www.beautyoftheweb.in.

On the association, I.M. Swaminathan, director, Consumer Product Marketing, Yahoo! India, said, “We are committed to deliver an innovative and engaging platform to online cricket consumers. This association is aimed at offering a compelling and unique experience to Indian cricket fans and will enable them to catch all the excitement of the game anywhere, anytime seamlessly.”

Microsoft IE 9 now had partnerships with more than 80 popular Indian websites, stated a press release, adding that globally, IE 9 had received a positive response from consumers and was downloaded 2.3 million times in 24 hours of its global launch. The updated version of the Web browser had gained more than 12 percent usage share on Windows 7, claimed the statement.
