According to an AFP report, Mayer's base pay of $454,862 was fattened with a $1.12 million performance bonus and about $35 million in stock, according to a filing Tuesday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

In addition to a $1 million annual salary, Mayer will get $2 million yearly in bonus cash if Yahoo hits financial performance marks, according to paperwork filed with the SEC.

Meanwhile, Google Inc's executive chairman Eric Schmidt got a bump in annual salary to $1.25 million. That is a huge hike from the $1 he received in the previous year, after he became the executive chairman of the company in April 2011.

A Reuters report said that Schmidt's total compensation last year swelled to $101 million thanks to a previously announced equity award granted when he ended a 10-year stint in the top job at Google, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Google co-founder Larry Page, who took the CEO reins from Schmidt, and co-founder Sergey Brin each received a $1 base salary in 2011, the same salary they have received every year since 2004. Including holiday bonuses, the two co-founders each received a total compensation of $1,786 in 2011.

According to Glassdoor, a career website, which culled data from 3 million salary reports, at more than 210,000 companies has found Google had the highest average base salary for software engineers at $128,336. Facebook came in at number two with a base salary of $123,626.
