Yahoo!-BPL co-branded Messenger is here!

NEW DELHI: Yahoo! India has announced that it is teaming up with BPL Ltd. for
launching a Yahoo! India-BPL co-branded Messenger. Starting February 2001, the
co-branded instant messenger service will be made available free of charge on a
compact disc for purchasers of BPL products at authorized BPL outlets across the
country, as well as to BPL employees. The co-branded Messenger will be made
available as a free download at the Yahoo! India site (
and the BPL Web site (

The new service, designed especially for BPL, allows consumers to send
instant messages to their colleagues, friends and family. It also includes a
link to the BPL Web site, enabling quick access to BPL corporate and
product-related information. The Yahoo! India-BPL Messenger also features other
personal services such as stock updates, instant email alerts, weather updates
and chat facilities.

The Messenger aims to facilitate online communication for workforces. The
service can lead to more effective logistics management by minimizing delays in
communication and also by making possible online conferences between entire
teams of employees. The Yahoo! India-BPL Messenger creates a platform for
instant sharing of information on important events, news and updates and also
provides additional features such as a customized calendar, weather,
sports-related information, stock updates and easy access to details on BPL and
its products.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Baijal, Senior Vice President, BPL Ltd. said,
