PUNE: Xpanxion LCC, an Atlanta based IT outsourcing and software development firm, plans to add another 100 professionals to its development facility in Pune. The existing facility already has over 100 professionals.

The company claims to operate on athe 'Made in the USA' offshore outsourcing model. The model works on the premise that certain jobs can be performed overseas at the same skilllevel at a reduced cost. Critical project management, timelines, scope and quality control can be managed from the US itself.

Xpanxion president and CEO Paul Eurek admitted that this model helped counter the outsourcing backlash in USA. "With the threat of outsourcing backlash moving to white collar jobs, there is a possibility of losing a long-term relationship," he added. Eurek further added that his company had managed to overcome this hurdle with this model.

According to Xpanxion International Pvt Ltd CEO S Ramprasad, the India operations are expected to register a growth rate of 36 percent during this quarter. "The company is now scouting for space to accommodate its increased headcount," he informed.

The Pune center has been working on certain applications in component re-engineering, handheld wireless, prototyping and product enhancements. The company has introduced an Xchange program that would entail a cross pollination of project managers between the US and Indian offices. The aim is to prepare them for orientation and experience the client's business in a better manner. Next month, over six people would be leaving for USA for a six-week project. Two people are expected to come to the Pune office in the next two months.
