The XLS is a multi-core multi-threaded processor targeted at the SMB market for networking, storage and security based applications.

Designed for the small to medium business (SMB) market, the DNA1500 and DNA1501 feature RMI’s XLS204 and XLS208 SoC (SuperSoC) processors. The Nexcom DNA1500 and DNA1501 are designed to provide new price/performance levels for applications such as Security, Firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Anti-Virus, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS).

“Based on its high performance and strong feature set, we chose the XLS Processor family from RMI for our new generation of SMB security appliances,” said Andrew Huang, AVP of Sales, Nexcom. “This family of processors allowed us to produce the best performing platform in its price class.”

The DNA1500 and DNA1501 platforms are desktop fanless designs with six Gigabit Ethernet ports for WAN and LAN connections, two USB ports, one RJ45 console port, and two Mini PCIe ports for 802.11 a/b/n wireless support or other options.

The platforms are built on RMI’s XLS204 and XLS 208 Processor, respectively. These p rocessors provide up to two MIPS64-bit cores with up to eight fine grain hardware threads and operate at up to 1GHz. RMI’s multi-core multi-threaded technology provides the ultimate in performance. The XLS204 and XLS208 Processors also include an Autonomous Security Acceleration Engine, which allows the processor to perform application processes while simultaneously encrypting/decrypting data that the application needs. This results in ultra-efficient processor utilization.

“By providing a feature rich and best-in-class price/performance platform based on the XLS Processors, Nexcom enables OEMs to quickly build leading solutions with reduced time to market,” said Mark Litvack, director of business development, RMI. “XLS provides a level of price/performance and features previously unavailable and Nexcom’s DNA1500 and DNA1501 will provide mutual customers the best solution in a ready to use, robust and integrated platform for the security market.”
