WALTHAM, USA: xkoto, the database virtualization company has announced the availability of GRIDSCALE 5.1, the latest release of its active-active solution for Microsoft SQL Server.

GRIDSCALE 5.1 adds several features that enhance the performance and capabilities of the industry’s first shared-nothing solution for SQL Server, including native driver support and a new Cluster Lock Manager.

According to the press release, GRIDSCALE 5.1 features a new, “driverless” configuration mode for Microsoft SQL Server. By implementing the Microsoft SQL Server tabular data stream (TDS) protocol, GRIDSCALE is now compatible with native SQL Server drivers, including ADO, .NET Framework, and OLE DB.

“GRIDSCALE can be a competitive advantage for our mutual customers, and a reliable, cost-effective alternative for scenarios requiring scale-out solutions,” said Claude Lorenson, Ph.D., director of SQL Server marketing at Microsoft Corp. “Businesses looking to scale SQL Server should consider GRIDSCALE for mission-critical applications.”

“GRIDSCALE offers IT professionals a scale-out and continuous availability solution for mission-critical Microsoft SQL Server databases,” said David Patrick, president and CEO, xkoto.

“The new support for the native SQL Server protocol truly opens up GRIDSCALE for consideration by most enterprise applications and management tools,” added Patrick.

The release further added, GRIDSCALE can now simultaneously manage multiple SQL Server instances using popular tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
