Xiotech to pump millions($) into India

HYDERABAD: Xiotech Corporation, a storage solutions provider, has decided to invest multi-million dollars by the end of 2005 in its Indian Development Center (IDC) located at Hyderabad.



This apart, the company also foresees significant contribution from the Indian engineering team for further development of their latest product Magnitude 3D 3000.

Xiotech Corporation CTO Karl D Schubert said, “We would be investing multi-million dollars by the end of 2005. The Hyderabad center is the only development center for Xiotech outside US and we expect to significantly look at India for major product developments.”

Xiotech India Pvt Ltd., VP Sesha Rao said, “Multi-million dollars may mean anything between $ one to $ nine million. And we have already started pumping investments for acquiring equipment including servers, fiber channel drivers, testing equipment, etc. Besides, we intend to scale up the employee-base from the present 45 to 60 by end of this year.”

Detailing about the contribution of the Indian team, Schubert said, “We have announced and made available the newest release of our product Magnitude 3D 3000 in March 2005. Our engineering team in Hyderabad made significant contribution to this release.”

Magnitude 3D 3000, built on the clustered storage architecture, is a faster and scalable solution. It also allows midsized customers to tune performance to specific applications, and ensures that the most important processes get enhanced quality of service at the point of need.

Rao further added, “The Indian team contributed around 40 percent of the product development. We keep enhancing the product with more features and we foresee that the Indian team will contribute 80 percent to the next feature-rich Magnitude 3D 3000 version.” According to the company, the IDC's contribution across various products on an average would be around 60 to 70 percent.
