Xiaomi has launched the Mi Note 3 at an event in China yesterday. The phone which is a successor to the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, comes with a 16-megapixel camera, dual rear camera setup, facial recognition feature and 4 sided curved body. Also, there is an under glass front facing fingerprint sensor.
The phone sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 403ppi and a 94.4 percent NTSC color gamut. The device is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at 2.2 GHz coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The smartphone comes with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage with no expansion via a microSD card. As for the price, the 64GB variant is priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,500) and the 128Gb at CNY 2,899 (roughly Rs. 28,300).
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 offers a dual rear camera setup (the same as the Xiaomi Mi 6) with a 12-megapixel sensor coupled with a wide-angle lens, f/1.8 aperture, and 4-axis optical image stabilization, and the second 12-megapixel sensor coupled with a telephoto lens, and a f/2.6 aperture. The setup offers 2x optical zoom, and PDAF, apart from 4K video capture. The front camera bears a 16-megapixel sensor with 2-micron pixels.
The Mi Note 3 comes with an AI facial recognition feature that can unlock your phone with just a glance. Xiaomi claims that the face unlock feature is as fast as the fingerprint scan. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 over the top. To power up the device, there is 3050 mAh non-removable battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0. Other features include 4G LTE, dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11c, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, an infrared sensor, and proximity sensor. The phone weighs 163 grams and measures 152.6x73.95x7.6mm.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 will available from September 15. Apart from the MI Note 3, Xiaomi also announced the Mi Mix 2 at the same event which is going to be available very soon.
