The new model has a 13.3-inch WXGA LCD backed by 120GB of hard disk space. Launched in Xenitis’ factory in Hoogly in the presence of West Bengal State Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce and Industry, Xenitis also introduced a new mobile phone collection.

“Today, the laptop has become a trend. Every household wants a PC or a laptop. However, due to its high price, not everybody can afford it. Our aim is to revolutionize this concept and thus, we have come up with the cheapest laptop available ever in India,” said Santanu Ghosh, chairman and MD, Xenitis Group.

Last fiscal Xenitis Group touched the landmark turnover of Rs 1,000 crore and is targeting Rs 2,000 crore this fiscal.

Impressed by the performance of Xenitis, Anil Basu, chairman, West Bengal State Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce and Industry, said, “West Bengal has so far lagged behind other states in IT entrepreneurship. Xenitis makes us proud indeed with the landmark it has created overtime in the IT sector.”

Sudip Bhattacharya, member, West Bengal State Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce and Industry said, “This introduction will definitely fulfill the dreams of the middle class people aspiring for a notebook. Previously, Xenitis used to import the parts and assemble it here, but now, the manufacturing of a notebook in Bengal itself will definitely give a boost to the market.”

The Standing Committee has already sanctioned 10 acres of land in Hoogly to Xenitis where production of the laptop will commence by the end of August. Presently, the laptops are being manufactured in the existing facility of Xenitis Infotech. “We are going to invest Rs 220 crore in Xenitis Infotech for capacity expansion and in the coming six months, the new plant will generate additional direct employment opportunity for 650 people,” Ghosh added.
