L Narayan, managing director, SiliconLabs Pvt Ltd, unveiled the working prototypes of X View at a press conference here. Claiming to be the the world's first back-to-back monitors, he said, "X View is an outcome of an collaborative effort from a Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Janardhana Reddy of Vijaya Heart Foundation, Chennai and SiliconLabs, which would facilitate people to simultaneously view, share and digitally interact with the same content, including web content."

X View would enhance home computer users' experience, simultaneous Internet surfing and sharing of content by family members to parent-child computer interaction; corporate and professional presentations; sales and marketing; education and training - teacher-student/trainer-trainee interaction; gaming and entertainment sharing, etc.

"X View can also be adopted to products where face-to-face communication, digital data exchange and information sharing with or without capabilities are required such as retail billing and ticketing," Dr Reddy said adding the monitor can be switched off on one side.

Speaking on the technology, Narayan said, "SiliconLab took the existing TFT screens, put them back-to-back and figured a way to replicate the content on both the back-to-back screens. The second slave display would replicate the content, making it possible to simultaneously view, share and interact with the same content on both sides of the monitor."

Assisted by KriativPlanet Pvt Ltd in its development, the product is expected for a commercial launch early next year and hopes to market at least 4-5 lakh units in 12 months.
