LaserBand, player in patient ID wristband technology, and Rhode Island Hospital, Lifespan Health System Partner, recently collaborated to create a wristband specifically for a new statewide Patient Tracking System.

As a press note says, the Rhode Island Health System was looking for a durable band to be used by first responders in the harsh conditions of emergency response environments, facilitating the transmission of information from the state’s 250 front line ALS Rescue Transport vehicles to hospitals.

“In order to design and locate the proper wristband, I reached out to several vendors and immediately became comfortable and familiar with LaserBand,” David Schnell, Jr., Project Manager for Rhode Island Hospital Emergency Preparedness, stated. “What caught my attention first was that LaserBand appeared to be in touch with the EMS community through the product known as the StatBand Triage Tag.”

StatBand products are far better than traditional paper and string tags at withstanding the harsh conditions of emergency response environments because they are made of an advanced water and abrasive-resistant 3-ply polymer construction. Plus, all StatBand products have been designed with self-adhesive uniquely numbered barcode labels for quick and accurate identification and tracking of people, pets, and personal belongings, the release added.

Recognizing that some customers require very specific product solutions, LaserBand offers made-to-order wristband capabilities to meet the demands of customers like David Schnell and the Rhode Island Health System. “Upon viewing their StatBand Triage Tag, I was confident that LaserBand could provide us with a custom solution that would be durable and professional. Other vendors did not seem interested when I mentioned the word ‘custom’ and simply were not that responsive. Over the course of several months, LaserBand stayed in contact with me, worked through all the details, and kept me informed of new developments.” He shared.

In addition to made-to-order products, now many situations would be covered like enabling first responders to quickly and accurately identify, record, and track the injured at the scene of an emergency. The tags also contain uniquely numbered barcodes and labels to help caregivers identify and track belongings and other related information in a real-time healthcare or emergency environment.
