Worldspan signs $350m deal with IBM

ATLANTA: Worldspan, the computerized travel reservation system, partly owned

by Delta Air Lines, has said that it has signed a five-year Internet-technology

contract worth over $350 million, with IBM.

Under the contract, Worldspan would use IBM's Internet infrastructure

technology, called WebSphere, in order to provide cost savings and add greater

convenience for customers.

Worldspan would also have access to additional IBM products and services, the

company said.

Worldspan already uses IBM's transaction processing facility, a

high-bandwidth operating system. Websphere will be integrated into this

technology, Worldspan said.
