World in a classroom

BANGALORE, INDIA: Motorola launched Motorola Virtual – World in a Classroom project, with Bangalore based non-profit organization, Parikrma Humanity Foundation. This will initiate a unique state-of-the-art learning program that will change the very way the poor are educated.



Motorola’s state-of-the-art Canopy technology connects four ‘Parikrma Centres for Learning’ situated in different parts of city through repeater setup located at strategic locations, namely ISKCON, Brunton Court, MSR Hospital, Tech Mahindra. The platform can be configured as a single-site point-to-multipoint system that supports subscribers for distances up to 25 kilometers. This is a complete wireless ecosystem, from infrastructure and applications, to end-user devices.

Motorola India designed and implemented the solution along with its partners Convergent Communications, IT department of Parikrma School and MLABs to give the school a Wireless High Bandwidth Network which interconnects the four schools for online sharing of lecture sessions, sharing of computing resources, sharing of internet bandwidth, interaction between students and staff across Four schools on a common Video Conference platform, and Sharing of documentation, presentation across the schools on a common Document Conference platform.

Each ‘world in a classroom’ project will be equipped with Motorola Canopy PTP100Lite - 10 Mbps Point to Point backhaul, CMM Micro - Cluster Management Module (CMM Micro),  a module that provides power, GPS timing for synchronisation, and networking connections for a Canopy Backhaul cluster which avoids self interference, MIMIO White board system integrated with Projector and Computer using Mimio Software Suite, and MCS Video Conferencing Tools – Video Conferencing and Document Conferencing software suite developed by MLABs.

Speaking at the launch of this initiative, Soumitra Sana, country president, Motorola India &  MD,  Motorola Software Group India, said, ``Technology has brought the world closer, changing the very way we live.
