TAIPEI, TAIWAN: Networking chip manufacturers Broadcom and Atheros Communications have ended the delivery lead times for WLAN chips, due to recent downward shipment adjustments by notebook and netbook vendors.

A media report, quoting industry sources said Atheros have a high possibility to adjust its quotes during the second half of 2010, since the company’s target is to push the sales of its networking chips to the consumer electronics segment.

Moreover, it is holding a leading position in the notebook sector. For now, the Taiwan-based networking chip vendors have also revealed that the order visibility for WLAN chips has blurred recently, by unstabilizing the prospects for the third quarter.

Realtek Semiconductors, the WLAN chipmaker, has adjusted its revenue targets for the second quarter to a sequential decline of 5-7 per cent compared to a flat performance as projected previously, due to disparaging market conditions.
