BANGALORE: Wipro chairman Asim H. Premji on Friday said his company has a superior global delivery model than its competitor, Infosys.
He said this while responding to reporters' questions on whether he has found a suitable replacement for Vivek Paul, the outgoing vice chairman.
Premji said that the new organization structure, which had been put in place after the exit of Paul, would continue to remain in the near future.
"The new structure is a reflection of our appreciation that the different business rhythms of our various business units require a structure that enables sustainable scalability.
We believe we have created a structure that facilitates growth and minimizes duplication, ensuring adequate leverage for cross-selling. We believe this structure will be yet another first in the industry," Premji claimed.
Premji said in this context that the company's cross matrix structure and business model were superior to that of Infosys's global delivery model, with healthy integration of Wipro's vertical and horizontal business segments.
"Though it is not fair for me to comment on the business models or structures of other IT firms, I think Infosys is still struggling with its global delivery model due to increasing verticalization of its businesses. Whereas, we are clear on what we want to do," Premji said.
The Wipro chief added that he is yet to fully understand the Infosys's global delivery model. Both structures had their own merit, he, however, observed
Premji expressed confidence that the new structure would enable the company to achieve its vision of global leadership, with initiatives on deepening its service portfolio, investing in sales and marketing and focusing on training.
