Wipro wins Innovation for India award

BANGALORE: Wipro Technologies, the global IT services

business of Wipro Limited today announced that its Managed Remote Infrastructure

Solution, the Global Command Centre (GCC) has been adjudged a winner under the

Å’Business Innovation category at the Innovation for India awards.






These Awards, the first of its kind in India, have been instituted by the
Innovation for India Marico Foundation and Business World. The Awards have been

architected and audited by Erehwon Innovation Consulting.






There were over 160 companies that submitted their entries and a distinguished
panel, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Ramesh Mashelkar, Director, CSIR evaluated

the entries. Based on the criteria of uniqueness of Innovation, the impact of

the Innovation on the organisation, environment and the leverage of resources,

the jury selected ³India¹s Best Innovations in each of the sectors.






Wipro's GCC won the award for its innovative Remote Delivery model that
reduces the onsite service costs and gives a real-time status of the IT

infrastructure. The jury also recognised Wipro

for creating a innovative new business model within Wipro and also opening up a

new possibility for India to compete within.






Commenting on the award, G. K. Prasanna, Senior Vice President, Technology
Infrastructure Services Group, Wipro Technologies said, “The Innovation for

India award is a reaffirmation of Wipro's belief that the next level of

delivering value to our global customers will come from identifying solutions

that have been traditionally delivered onsite and deliver these on global

delivery model using innovative tools and technologies. Wipro has a history of

Innovation and we constantly look at incremental and quantum innovations to

deliver continuous business value to our customers.






Wipro also received the Nasscom Innovation Award for the Global Command Centre.
Wipro was also the only Indian company to be listed in the IN25 Champions of

Innovation listing by BusinessWeek.
