Wipro ties up with BJ's Wholesale Club

BANGALORE, INDIA: IT services major Wipro Technologies today announced that it has entered into a five-year agreement with BJ’s WIT services major, Wipro Technologies, BJ's Wholesale Club, Massachusetts, US, applications management services,John A Polizzi, senior VP and CIO of BJ’s Wholesale Clubholesale Club, Inc., a membership warehouse club headquartered in Massachusetts, US, to provide IT data centre and applications management services.

Under the agreement, Wipro would migrate BJ’s Wholesale Club's mainframe and open systems environment to its data centre in Nebraska, to enable the company to streamline their infrastructure solutions with operational flexibility and improved applications support, said a press release.

Through this five-year engagement, BJ’s would also benefit from Wipro’s extensive expertise in providing applications management and support, disaster recovery, enterprise security and compliance services.

“BJ’s is in the business of providing our members value on brand-name groceries, consumer electronics, apparel, household items and seasonal products, and we do that by being as efficient as possible,” said John A Polizzi, senior VP and CIO of BJ’s Wholesale Club.

He added that their agreement with Wipro would help ensure that they could continue to meet their members’ desire for value without sacrificing quality while adapting to changes as they grow.

Said Sameer Kishore, president and COO for Wipro’s Data Center business unit, “Wipro is committed to its strategic relationship with BJ’s and will leverage our global infrastructure management experience, data centers in North America, global command centers and IT best practices to provide superior service and best value for the investment.”
