BANGALORE: Wipro Technologies, the software services arm of Indian
diversified technology firm Wipro Ltd., has won a $7.5 million contract from the
Scottish Parliament, the company announced on Monday. According to the five-year
contract, Wipro Tech will provide information technology support services and
consultancy, Wipro said in a statement.
"The contract involves internal and external network management, systems
administration, messaging and end-user support, enterprise systems security, and
providing consultancy on technology shifts," it said. The Scottish
Parliament has a dedicated IT services group to deliver information to members
and staff of the Parliament, and access to the public.
Meanwhile, shares of Wipro ended 1.2 per cent higher at Rs 2,862.85 on the
Bombay Stock Exchange ahead of the announcement while Bombay's benchmark index
closed 0.47 per cent up at 4,350.65.
Europe has in recent quarters been contributing a higher chunk of Wipro's
total revenues. The firm's software clients include Nortel Networks, Cisco
Systems, NEC Corp and UK travel operator Thomas Cook.
