BANGALORE: Wipro Technologies has developed Bluetooth Baseband Controller
Synthesizable Core, a solution compliant with Bluetooth version 1.0 B. The
Baseband Controller Core facilitates data transfer rates up to a speed of 1Mbps.
Designed for easy integration with PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, printers, fax
machines, wireless LAN access points and customer electronics devices, the
solution can be validated using Wipro’s test environment or Wipro’s
Bluetooth Software stack.
Bluetooth Baseband Controller Core is designed for any general or embedded
application. The Core can be easily targeted to any ASIC library for easy
integration. It provides interfaces to an external ARM CPU through the ASB bus
and an external Bluetooth radio unit. Voice Data transfers are supported by
providing an interface to an external CODEC unit.
Talking about the solution, Wipro Global R&D Solutions technical manager
Uday Ramchandran said, "Wipro Technologies offers a comprehensive and
cost-effective portfolio of ready-to-use solutions for connectivity and
networking domains. This product will add to that range."
The Core along with Wipro’s Bluetooth Version 1.0 B compliant protocol
stack forms a complete Bluetooth solution. This includes the baseband firmware,
link manager protocol (LMP), host controller interface (HCI), logical link
control and adaptation protocol (L2CAP), service discovery protocol (SDP) and
RFCOMM. The features of Core include a Synthesizable Verilog source code,
support for power management features for lower power consumption and support
for up to three SCO channels. Depending on the type of customization required by
the customer, the price of the Bluetooth solutions may range from US $ 250,000
to US $ 2 million.
