Wipro to step up Taiwan operations

BANGALORE: Wipro Infotech has announced its plans to expand its Taiwan operations. Wipro has had

a presence in Taiwan since 1999 through a Technical Evaluation Cell in Taipei,

to evaluate products & components for their indigenous PC. It recently

announced its entry into Asia Pacific. Singapore would be the regional

headquarters from where Wipro will address Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines,

Indonesia and Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand. It recently launched its

Middle East operations at the Dubai Internet City, from where it plans to

address other GCC countries. Wipro Infotech now plans to bring strong services

practice into Taiwan. It will offer Infrastructure Management Services, Systems

Integration, Business Solutions and Information Risk Management solutions to its

customers.

Formally announcing the expansion plans of Wipro Infotech in Taiwan, Wipro

Infotech president Suresh Vaswani said, "Wipro has set itself a vision of

being among the top 10 Information Technology Services companies globally. Our

entry into Taiwan is a part of this ambitious growth plan.

To enable a Time-to-Market advantage to its customers, Wipro

has invested in developing Intellectual Property (IP) & reusable components

in areas like Bluetooth, 1394, embedded Linux etc. During a recent visit to

India, the III (Institute of Information Industry) delegation visited the Wipro

facilities in Bangalore, India. The delegation expressed significant interest in

Wipro’s expertise in these areas and expressed a desire for a closer working

relationship with Wipro.

Tapan Bhat will head the Asia Pacific business operations and

would be based out of Singapore. Mr. Vinesh Shah would head the Business

Development function for Wipro Infotech’s Taiwan operations.
