"We will start the hiring engine and add to our existing staff. The hiring will be on people with specialized and advanced skills. However, there is no specific number that we wish to give at this point of time," Paul said.

The specialized and advanced skills, that Wipro is looking at, includes Project Managers with complex project implementation experience, Package Implementation managers, Enterprise Integration Application experienced professionals and Process Consultants with Business Process Mapping skills.

Wipro Technologies ended the fiscal with 9,626 employees, posting a net decrease of 308 employees compared to previous fiscal. The company had added 770 employees during the 2001-02 period with 250 and 230 employees in the last two respective quarters.

"We will also be increasing our utilization rates. Our utilization rates on an average this year has been 68 per cent, while the last quarter was 71 per cent and the third quarter was 67 per cent. We have no guidance as to how much we would want to increase the utilization rates this year but we would ensure a significant increase," said Paul.
