BANGALORE, INDIA: Despite the times continuing to be tough, Wipro has decided to stick to its usual remuneration hike cycle of June this year as well. It includes both its offshore and onsite staff members.

Last year, the IT major paid out 8 per cent for its offshore employees, while its onsite staff got 3 per cent. According to Saurabh Govil, senior vice-president for Human Resources, this year's salary increments will be in lower single digits.

As far as their onsite employees, it said that about 36 per cent of their clients there are local talent, who, in the coming years, are expected to become 50 per cent.

Like Infosys, Wipro officials said that they would also go with the 70:30 approach, with 70 per cent freshers from campuses and the rest off-campus.

In this scenario, Wipro has a reason to smile, for its current attrition rate is the lowest in the last two years. In 2012-13, the attrition rate stood at 13.7 per cent, which is quite impressive in sharp contrast to the dismal 17.5 per cent last year.

"Dull markets are not holding employees back. In our last two years, we have laid more emphasis in building their careers, made sure decisions reach grass-roots level and be more prompt in our communication levels," said Pratik Kumar, head of human resources during the fourth quarterly results announcement on Friday.
