BANGALORE: Wipro has announced that its new version will cover flavors of Unix. Its two products, which were recently introduced in the market, support only Microsoft assets in their present form.

"Both products were originally developed for internal use as part of our package for customers in the IT managed services segment. It started out thus as a tool for providing a service rather than a product by itself. It's only recently that we decided to leverage it as a stand alone tool and market it to people who might not be using our services also," said Wipro Managed IT services and Total Outsourcing Services GM and Business Head Anand Sankaran.

According to Sankaran, the products address two main problems that many organizations in India with multiple users spread across various locations face today — user satisfaction and asset monitoring.

E-helpline is a call management software, which provides a centralized way to support and manage multi-channel communication initiated by users or agents. The software helps in directing calls made by users, based on their nature and severity, to the right people for fast and effective resolution of the issue. It also provides an extensive knowledge base that technicians and customers can use to search for solutions or track problems from registration to resolution.

The other module, e-Asset Management tool aids in keeping note of and monitoring the various assets, including software and hardware, of the various users of an organization.

While asserting that its go-to-market strategy was still under debate, Sankaran said that Wipro Infotech would mainly target the SME and the lower rung of the enterprise segments with these products. "Our present focus will be India, APAC and the Middle East. While manufacturing is the vertical which I think will contribute to a lot of our business from the products, ITeS could also play a part with regard to India," said Sankaran.

He added that any organization, irrespective of verticals, with 300-400+ users and a simple need for management of assets will be considered a potential customer. While stressing that the products were priced 25 percent lower than competitors, he added that the company offers easy customization taking only three weeks to roll out the product at customer locations.

"We will constantly work to improve the product. Right now we are working on upgrading it to .NET technology and will continue to try and add on more modules," said Sankaran.
