NEW DELHI: In consonance with its Internet Outsourcing Strategy (IOS), Trend

Micro has announced a strategic partnership with Wipro Net, an Internet Service

Provider (ISP) in India. As per the alliance, Trend Micro's solutions will allow

Wipro Net to deliver critical content security services to their subscribers,

thereby protecting them from the threat of viruses and spam.

Under the IOS business model, a key service that Wipro Net will extend to its

subscribers is e-mail scanning, where the ISP will be able to scan and remove

viruses from customers' incoming and outgoing e-mails. This takes advantage of

the fact that 94 per cent of viruses are spread via e-mail. By implementing a

precautionary measure at the "source" the Internet, Wipro Net will be

able to intercept viruses before they reach the end user's network, preventing

damage even when their subscribers' network systems are not updated with the

latest virus pattern files.

Internet Outsourcing is a new business model devised by Trend Micro to help

carriers, ISPs, ASPs, service hosting providers and data center operators offer

their customers a virus-free service. In addition to their best-of-breed

technology, Trend Micro will also extend mission-critical support services to

Wipro Net. Wipro Net will benefit from The Trend Micro Premium Support Program

which ensures dedicated, proactive support backed by TrendLabs' worldwide

24x7x365 global research and support network.

Besides, Trend Virus Control System (TVCS), a web-enabled management console

will allow Wipro Net to remotely monitor, manage, update, and compile data on

multiple managed service installations from a single network operations center (NOC).
