Wipro launches support package for Linux

BANGALORE: Wipro Infotech Customer Support has launched a Linux support

service called Wipro Comfort Linux for Linux users in Bangalore, Calcutta,

Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

"Wipro Comfort Linux is an annual support package which incorporate the

service deliverables of our existing support services, Wipro Comfort Classic and

Wipro Comfort Premium. In order to ensure quality service and availability of a

sound knowledge base, Wipro has allied with organizations who are pioneers and

leaders among the Linux development community," said Wipro Infotech chief

executive, operations and customer support H.R. Ramesh Chandra. With people

looking for alternative operating systems, Linux has grown in popularity with a

base of 10 million users worldwide, states a press release. Wipro Technologies

has worked on the Linux open source platform and has been providing e-mail based

technical support on Linux related queries through Wipro Infotech Customer

Support.

Wipro claims that it services over 30,000 customers through 161 service

locations in India and provides support to over 1,00,000 desktops and notebooks

and 4,000 servers in the country through a team of about 1500 engineers in the

field. According to the press release issued by the company, Wipro Infotech

Customer Support already has countrywide computer support services such as Metro

Call Center, E-mail Call Logging, and toll-free telephone number for computer

support assistance in a few cities. Wipro Infotech Customer Support is a part of

Wipro Corporation which serves customers in high value Information Technology
