MUMBAI: Wipro Technologies has announced the launch of the next generation 'IEEE 802.11g' standard based Intellectual Property (IP) solution for wireless connectivity. As a Wireless LAN IP and design services provider, Wipro will be participating in the Wi-Fi Planet Conference and Expo, Fall 2003, to be held at San Jose, California, from December 3 to December 5, 2003.

Formerly titled 802.11 Planet, Wi-Fi Planet is slated to be the world's largest Wi-Fi business event. Wipro will be demonstrating its integrated 802.11g Baseband and MAC IP solution at the show.

"A superior end-to-end IP solution at competitive prices is what gives our customers the confidence to come to us when they are looking for wireless LAN IPs", said Wipro Technologies embedded and product engineering solutions president, Ramesh Emani. "The Wireless LAN market is presently seeing a boom and with our solutions for all the three standards (IEEE 802.11a/b/g), we are well positioned to dominate the Wireless LAN IP segment," he added.

Wipro's Wireless LAN IP portfolio comprises IPs for the IEEE 802.11 a, b and g basebands and the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g multimode MAC. "Wipro's 802.11b/a/gbasebands with customizable Radio and MAC interfaces have one of the lowest gate count implementations of the modem without sacrificing performance, thereby enabling a low cost high performance solution for its customers" said Wipro Technologies, semiconductor intellectual property group head, Uday Ramachandran. "Our MAC incorporates an optimum hardware-software partitioning for reduced gate count as well as lower MIPS requirements," he added.
