BANGALORE: IT outsourcing major Wipro's product

engineering solutions (PES) and European geography revenues have surpassed the

$0.5 billion mark this year, the company said while announcing its financial

results here today.

The company, which has a 13,500 strong team of engineers in PES, claimed that it
is the world's largest independent R&D services provider. Following

acquisitions that the company made last year, the PES group recorded nine per

cent sequential growth in sales on Q-o-Q basis and a 34 percent year-on-year

In Q3 last year, Wipro acquired Austria-based NewLogic, which designs
semiconductor IP cores for WLAN, Bluetooth and IEEE 1394. The division provides

engineering services across areas like telecom, computing systems, storage,

semiconductor, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, avionics,

industrial automation, software products and medical devices.

There were 30 offshore development centers operational in 2005-`06 for PES
specific clients. The group has so far registered 58 invention disclosures along

with clients. Sixty-six new customer accounts were added on to the group this

fiscal.

Wipro has managed to improve its overall footprint in Europe by 46 per cent from
last year. PES now contributes to 31 per cent of Wipro's overall revenues.
