Soumitro Ghosh, senior VP and head of Wipro Infotech, said: "Our vision is to strengthen our position as a leading system integrator. Manufacturing our own PCs was not giving us a competitive differentiation in our system integration solution offering."

"After evaluating the changing market scenario and customer needs, Wipro has decided to strengthen its position as a system integrator and increases its focus on IT Solutions and Services. As a consequence, the company will discontinue manufacturing of Wipro branded desktops, laptops and servers. We however, will be present in the PC market by providing suitable brand as a part of its solution offerings in large integrated deals," the company said.

Wipro manufactures personal computers, including desktops and laptops, as part of information technology (IT) services contracts with various companies and government agencies in India.
