Wipro automates ESIC's healthcare services

MUMBAI, INDIA: Wipro Infotech, a provider of IT and business transformation services, on Friday announced the implementation of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation’s (ESIC) Project Panchdeep, a healthcare administration program aimed at automating healthcare services to over 6 crore beneficiaries spread across the country.

An e-governance program, Project Panchdeep provides online facilities to employers and insured people for registration, payment of premium and disbursement of cash benefits, Wipro claimed in a press release.

It also automates medicare services to all insured people and brings in transparency in the system.

The IT rollout has made it possible for employers to file monthly contribution, generate TICs and register new employers, etc., from anywhere and anytime, the company said. Insured people can now get medical benefits through Pehchan card anywhere across ESI locations.

The project includes other modules like HR, Finance and General Administration programs all of which have been rolled out at all ESIC locations pan India, thus increasing the operational efficiency of ESIC.

Project Panchdeep will allow insured people to avail of medical services at any ESIC facility across India. With each Insured Person being given two biometric cards, family members can avail medical services even when the Insured Person is away at another location.

“We are honored to have been part of ESIC’s visionary initiative in taking quality healthcare to the masses. Wipro has established a Unified Information System automating all internal and external processes of ESIC,” said Anand Sankaran, senior vice president and business head-India, Middle East and Africa, Wipro.

“We have designed and developed a comprehensive suite of applications which includes Hospital Information System, Insurance and ERP modules. We have set up the IT infrastructure for a state of the art central data center in Delhi and Disaster Recovery center in Hyderabad,” he added.

The company has also installed centralized hardware such as servers, storage, security and network devices ensuring an integrated and a secured information retrieval system spread over 2000 locations pan India.

“Our endeavor has been to ensure that every ESIC beneficiary can avail medical services through Pehchan Cards and obtain their claims faster and in a hassle-free manner, anytime, anywhere. For this purpose over 900 Pehchan Camps are running all across India. We are happy to know that this IT initiative has been well received by all stakeholders of ESIC,” Sankaran concluded.
