Wipro appoints new country head for Korea

BANGALORE, INDIA: Wipro Technologies, the IT services business of Wipro Limited, which opened a new office in Seoul, South Korea, announced on Thursday the appointment of Ki Young Jang as the country head for South Korea.

In the new role, Ki-Young will have overall responsibility for the company's business in the country and will be based out of the Seoul center, Wipro said in a statement.

While building on the company's rapid expansion in the region, Ki-Young will oversee the 'Go-to-Market' strategy, drive revenue growth and leverage on Wipro's strength in innovation, technology, process insight and globalization to further enhance the company's position as a business transformation catalyst, the release added.

Ki-Young, who has over 25 years of experience across sales, marketing and alliances, had earlier worked with IBM and Bearing Point in Korea and held various senior managerial roles.

Wipro said that Korea, being a growing region, shows immense potential as an IT Services market and the company is looking at exponential growth of business there.

In addition, Wipro has a number of large and global accounts based in South Korea. The appointment of Ki-Young exhibits Wipro's commitment to the market and its outlook for growth and development. The company will offer product engineering services and cater to key verticals such as Technology, Manufacturing & Finance, and serve both local and global customers.

Commenting on the appointment of Ki-Young, Rajat Mathur, senior vice president and chief sales and operations officer APAC, Wipro Technologies, said South Korea is an important market for Wipro.

“In addition to our existing clients, we will be pursuing both new business and partnership opportunities. Korea has shown tremendous resilience in overcoming the global financial crisis and with leading global companies and other very large organizations based here; we strongly believe that we can bring value to them through our global experience and capabilities,” he said.

“Ki-Young's extensive experience in South Korea will add immense value in taking Wipro's commitment to the next level,” added Mathur.
