CHENNAI, INDIA: Wipro Technologies has announced the expansion of its operation in Chennai.
The company is setting up an 80-acre facility in Sholinganallur-ELCOT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and it has additionally invested in a 90-acre facility in Mahindra city SEZ.
“Chennai continues to be very conducive for our needs as the city has a rich talent pool and continues to attract talent from neighboring states,” said Sudip Banerjee, president, Enterprise Solutions, Wipro Technologies.
The Sholinganallur-ELCOT Special Economic Zone (SEZ), being set up to accommodate 35000 seats, is already operational. It currently seats around 2500 employees.
Including the facility Wipro has six offices in Chennai. The company’s Chennai operations services customers in industries like telecom, banking enterprise, manufacturing, retail, travel, media, technology and transportation.
Apart from having Centers of Excellence (CoE) teams in broadband, retail, banking, wireless, consumer electronics and a Japanese competency lab, the development center also has a global command center set up to support multiple customers through a unified service desk.
