Wipro may acquire US-based IT consultancy

Bangalore-based IT major Wipro is in talks with top management of `a few` US

companies to acquire them, its chairman Azim Premji said in an interview to the Wall

Street Journal in London published today, says reports. It is also likely to

acquire the consulting division of accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.






The company is listed with American depository shares (ADRs) on the New York
Stock Exchange (NYSE).






Premji added that, since they had a market capitalisation of $8 billion in US,
they had the currency to do it. But he cautioned a deal was not imminent and

also refused to name any potential targets.
